Škoda Superb Estate Wins Towcar of the Year 2027

Planning your next caravan adventure? The Škoda Superb Estate has been crowned Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year 2027.

The winning model is the Škoda Superb Estate SE L 2.0 TDI 193PS DSG 4×4, which also collected the Family Towcars award and won the 1,600–1,700kg caravan weight category.

What made the Superb stand out?

The Club highlighted the Superb’s comfort and composure while towing. Its ability to smooth out movement from the caravan helped deliver a settled, reassuring journey.

For families considering their next tow car, the result puts the Superb Estate firmly on the shortlist.

Choosing the right towbar and wiring

Whether you choose an award winner or keep your current car, the towbar and electrics need to suit your particular vehicle and how you intend to use it.

At Derby Tow Bars, I can help you choose from the towbar options available for your model, including fixed and detachable systems where suitable.

For caravan use, it is also worth discussing:

• 13-pin electrics for the appropriate caravan connection.

• Dedicated vehicle-specific wiring, matched to your car.

• Vehicle coding, where required.

• Permanent and switched power supplies if needed for your caravan’s equipment.

A 13-pin socket alone does not mean every caravan power function is connected, so tell me what you need when requesting your quote.

Check your own car and caravan combination

The award’s 1,600–1,700kg category is a competition class, rather than a statement of the car’s maximum towing capacity. Always check the approved limits for your exact vehicle, towbar and caravan.
